Enjoying a healthy meal after school!

Children need a variety of nutrient-rich foods during their critical years of development.  Kids Zone is a sponsor of the USDA daily meal program administered by the Oregon Department of Education. During the school year all participants receive a professionally prepared and free, nutritious supper through the Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).  During the summer months, all participants receive a free lunch and afternoon snack as part of the Summer Food Service Program (SFSP).
Our partner, the OSU Extension Service of Lincoln County, comes in once a month and guides the children in food prep and nutrition, while preparing fun foods.
Food Hero offers both beginning and experienced cooks healthy, low-cost recipes, as well as tips and tricks for making easy healthy recipes. The site offers ways to save money on shopping, to save time in the kitchen, and to get your children involved in making fun meals and snacks!  You will see some of the recipes they provide at the Reception Desk at Kids Zone!
